Daniel Pajuelo is a young Spanish priest who is an expert on innovative ways in which to talk about God. He has written rap songs and teaches at a school in Madrid.

One day, he was playing the popular computer game ‘Minecraft’ with his 6-year-old nephew, when it occurred to him that the game could be used as a tool to teach the faith to 12-year-old students in religion classes.

Due to the success of the initiative, the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, visited his school. The multinational computer company also invited Daniel Pajuelo to present his project in Brussels.

“Imagine, this had never happened to me, but the day I had to miss class, my students asked me when we were going to make up that religion class. In class, they are so excited.”

The goal of the educational project is to build a church in the game. Therefore, the students learn about the external and internal architecture, as well as parts that make up a Catholic parish.

The young students attended a real church and took notes before building their own virtual church. After, they recorded themselves playing for their parents to watch later.

Daniel Pajuelo believes that this form of teaching makes children ask questions about religion and encourages other teachers to follow his idea.
